A few loggings from last night

The conditions were better then yesterday. 

We had some nice catches from Latin America like R Alcaravan 5910; R Sta Cruz 6134.8, R Mosoj Chasi  3310, R Pio XII 5952.5, R Marumby 6080 too.

Also Conakry on 7125 kHz was really going strong  at 2235 and the Australians on 4835 and 5025 at 2130 UTC made Dave home sick.

Marc van Leemputten has been concentrating on the higher frequencies taking advantage of the amateur antennas. He has been using the 15, 20 and 40 meter beams with his HF 225 and NRD 535 receivers.

What can I say? Mevrouw Visser's excelled in making us all a fantastic feed of Spaghetti, but unfortunately nothing has jumped out of the pan and hit us in the face as far as dx is concerned. Australia has been noted on 4835 and now RRI Palangkaraya on 3325 khz at around 2212 UTC. No Brazil yet on MW but we are all looking and the night is still early.

 Okay. We are here for the long haul doing alternative dx to what we usually do. Absolutely no FM dx this evening. The log periodic is up and a few logs will hopefully happen later.

We are now finalising the preparations. As antennas we are going to put up only one beverage.  During summer the fields are full of crop. That makes that the beverage can only be put up along the ditch. This beverage will point towards South America (240°). During the afternoon it will be reversed manually to SE Asia.

A super KAZ will also be erected. Main direction will be 135°. We hope to catch something from East Africa. Terminating resistor will be controlled remotely.

And of course, there are Erik's permanent gigantic beams.

Summer DXpedition - June 2011 (WAL-11)

June 24 - 26 2011 sees a new Dxpedition to Walsoorden. This time however it will be in the middle of summer. This means less darkness hours. However it throws up different dx challenges. On Mediumwave we will be looking at South America, and of course there is FM which I will be extremely interested in. Then there will be the social side and time for experiments etc. So I am looking forward to this dx trip.
